INFORMED CONSENT TO PARTICIPATE IN RESEARCH

Study Title: Time-Efficient AI Teaching Tools in Education

Principal Investigators: Dr. Laura Morello & Dr. John Chick, University of Bridgeport

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY You are being invited to participate in a research study examining educators' experiences with AI teaching tools in the educational context. This research will contribute to a chapter in Time-Efficient Practice: Strategies for Avoiding Tricks, Traps, and Time Sinks in Online Teaching. The study aims to identify which AI tools genuinely enhance teaching efficiency versus those that create additional workload.

STUDY PROCEDURES If you agree to participate, you will be asked to complete an online survey about your experiences with AI teaching tools, including:

  • Tools you have used and their effectiveness
  • Time investment versus time savings
  • Challenges encountered with AI detection and management
  • Recommendations for colleagues
  • The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

RISKS AND BENEFITS There are no known risks associated with this research beyond those of everyday life. Benefits include contributing to knowledge that will help educators make informed decisions about AI tool adoption. Participants may request a summary of findings with practical recommendations upon study completion.

CONFIDENTIALITY Your responses will be anonymous. No identifying information will be collected. Data will be reported only in aggregate form. Survey responses will be stored securely and accessible only to the research team.

VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION Your participation is voluntary. You may skip any question you prefer not to answer. You may discontinue participation at any time without penalty by closing your browser window.
