Vaccine Management and Vaccines for Children Program Community of Practice
Background
In 2020, AIRA performed a needs assessment to determine if there was a need in the IIS community for additional resources or assistance from AIRA related to vaccine management, the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program, and IIS-immunization program integration. Several of the top-ranked topics were related to aspects of vaccine management and the VFC program. Given the small group of IIS and VFC program staff that work on these topics, there may be a benefit to creating a community of practice to discuss issues and share solutions. Within this community of practice, there could be scheduled webinars followed by discussion. This could be beneficial for sharing ideas for increasing the usage of VFC data and learning about the VFC processes that IIS are performing. This community of practice could also be used to develop a short-term subgroup that could help develop best practices or implementation guidance for topics that could use more standardized processes (e.g., developing vaccine accountability processes to support dose-level eligibility and dose-level accountability).
