The Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) encourages Expression of Interest form submissions from qualified candidates (including men, women, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, Aboriginal Peoples, people of all sexual orientations and genders, and others) who wish to contribute to the overall success of the Institute for Healthcare Philanthropy hosted annually by AHP at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

There is no deadline, so you may submit this EOI form at any time.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered a qualified candidate for an Institute faculty position, you will be expected to meet the following eligibility requirements. At the time of your submission, you are:
1. Currently employed in an AHP-affiliated healthcare institution as a practitioner of healthcare resource development and management - and have been so for a period of at least five (5) years, OR
2. An active consultant in healthcare resource development and management, able to provide evidence of past employment at an AHP-affiliated healthcare institution, OR
3. A professional employed in a related field (e.g., public relations, marketing or fundraising for causes other than healthcare) that may have specialized expertise to offer Institute participants.

Prospective candidates also should possess the following minimum qualifications:
• Formal post-secondary education (college or university degree and/or evidence of continuing education credits in resource development and management. Continuing education credits should be earned within the past five (5) years.
• Paid, professional employment for a minimum of eight (8) of the most recent ten (10) years, allowing for employment gaps; or be an active consultant serving healthcare clients for a minimum of eight (8) years.

Professional certifications or designations, including those listed below, are considered important indicators of your commitment to personal lifelong learning:
• Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) or Advanced CFRE (ACFRE) designation
• Fellow, Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (FAHP)
• Other credentials of a specialized nature (e.g., CPA, JD, CSPG, JC, FCEP, TEP, etc.) that help certify professional and/or specialized competency
• Completion of at least one Madison Institute certificate course.

Additionally, a candidate's experience, fundraising accomplishments, conference speaking experience and evaluations or ratings, and service to the profession and society will also be taken into consideration.
Term of Faculty Service

Faculty members selected for the Institute can serve up to 10 years. Invitations to continue faculty service each year are based on several factors including, but not limited to:
  • Submission of original teaching materials and annual updates on time to AHP or to the University of Wisconsin
  • Satisfactory class evaluation ratings
  • Conduct that reflects well on AHP, its partnership with the University of Wisconsin, and the Institute’s mission of creating an optimal learning environment.
Expression of Interest Process

Submissions are first reviewed by the Institute’s leadership, which is responsible for faculty development and placement, and by the AHP staff.  There may be subsequent evaluative screening calls with Institute leaders before a recommendation is made to a dean or deans in one or more of the learning tracks.

Applicants may also be asked to lead webinars for AHP, to speak at conferences or other meetings, or to provide links to previously recorded sessions where they have taught to help the Institute’s faculty development leaders know more about their teaching approaches and abilities.
Additional Information

Madison Institute faculty leaders are volunteers. Their service to the Institute is unpaid, though expenses for travel, food and lodging are covered by AHP.

Materials produced by Institute faculty members becomes property of AHP and faculty members sign an agreement to this end each year.
