Welcome to My Survey on Advanced Holistic Nursing

Welcome to our survey, designed to get your input on important policy issues that involve all Holistic Nurses. We are very eager to hear from you and get your feedback. We also want to be certain that you are informed so you can take your rightful position as a Holistic Nurse Leader.
The American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation (AHNCC), supported by the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA), has worked for more than 10 years to ensure that Advanced Holistic Nurses are nationally and internationally recognized for their holistic approaches to practice; their educationally based knowledge and skills; and their related competencies. Throughout time we have called on you to help us create valid and rigorous examinations. Now, we need you again.
Since the enactment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (2008), the healthcare has shifted paradigms, emphasizing care that facilitates holistic health and wellness. Concurrently, in an effort to structure advanced practice nursing,  the Consensus Model (CM) has been developed and promoted. A key characteristic of the CM is to specify those who qualify for Advanced Practice Register Nurse (APRN) status.

An unanticipated consequence is that  many of those without APRN status are excluded from third-party reimbursement, are considered less qualified for direct patient/client care, and are being replaced in educational and healthcare agencies for nurses with APRN status.
AHNCC, endorsed by AHNA, has responded to the CM in various ways, including a request that a 5th role be added to the Consensus Model. The National Council for State Boards responded stating that it is imperative that we clarify the unique practice activities of Holistic Nurses and write the Educational Essentials for Holistic Nursing.

AHNCC, endorsed by AHNA, have responded with White Paper: Advanced Holistic Nursing declaring our intent to continue to pursue the 5th role for Advanced Holistic Nurses and to prepare and publish Educational Essentials for Holistic Nursing. A workgroup is currently in the process of drafting said document.

We need your assistance before we can proceed.
The time is now! Together we can ensure that society has access to the healing care provided by Holistic Nurses; and we are able to practice to the fullest of our potential.

Please help us by responding to a few questions that follow. Thank you for your helping us advance Holistic Nursing.
