AHIMA 2019 Ballot
WHIMA Delegates Want Your Input
AHIMA recently released the 2019-2020 AHIMA ballot. It contains only one name for President-Elect and only one name for Speaker-Elect. The President-Elect is voted on by the membership and the Speaker-Elect is voted on by the Delegates. AHIMA Bylaws state that two names are required on the ballot for President-Elect. Concerns have been raised about the fact that there were multiple qualified candidates that were not included on the ballot. We wanted to present this information to our membership as it may affect your vote in the upcoming election.
In order to have a valid election, AHIMA Bylaws require a 3% return of ballots from their membership. Voting on the ballot in its entirety or a portion of it will count towards the 3% quorum. If enough members abstain from voting, and the quorum is not met, AHIMA would need to conduct a new election.
Your delegates will be voting on the Speaker-Elect for Speaker of the House. The election is August 5-16. There is currently one candidate. AHIMA Bylaws are not specific on the number of candidates for the Speaker-Elect position necessary for a valid ballot. Concerns have been raised about the fact that there were multiple qualified candidates that were not included on the ballot. We are soliciting your opinions or concerns and welcome your input so that we may present them to AHIMA and the House of Delegates this Fall. Please reply on this Survey Monkey or feel free to email any of your delegates.
