Task Force on Professionalism

Workforce professionalism is an essential ingredient of world-class public services and job satisfaction.  Yet we know that our members do not universally feel supported as professionals in their workplaces or in the media.  As a result, our members are working to reclaim their professions and are seeking respect for the work they do.  At the same time, many low-wage and immigrant workers are engaged in similar struggles for workplace dignity.

We have an opportunity to unite to improve the dignity of all workers, both in the public and the private sectors.  Succeeding in this work will lead to better recruitment and retention, a more unified worker movement and broader respect for the dignity of all workers, recognized by fair compensation and access to benefits and a secure retirement, ultimately lifting up and stabilizing neighborhoods and communities.
