Description:
Maryland is one of the chief receiving states for recent arrivals from Afghanistan. This presentation will include:
· An overview of Afghan arrivals, resettlement and service access issues here in the state;
· Key cultural, ethnic, and linguistic considerations important in service provision;
· Pre-arrival context and factors affecting mental health and well-being; and
· Discussion of approaches that can support informed therapeutic work with Afghan clients.
