ASBA|ASA 2020 Annual Conference RFP |
Thank you for your interest in submitting a proposal for a breakout session at the 2020 Arizona School Boards Association / Arizona School Administrators Annual Conference, Dec. 3-4, 2020.
There are many ways school boards can support each other through the sharing of promising practices and creative solutions to common challenges. Annual Conference provides an opportunity for school leaders to share what’s working in their districts and learn from others who have successfully implemented results-based solutions.
This year we are seeking submissions for breakout sessions in the following theme areas:
• Wraparound Services- Recent events have made one thing very clear: schools are community hubs that serve a vital role in connecting students with the resources they need. How is your district meeting the needs of families directly or through community partnerships?

• Governing in a Virtual World- While technology has been increasingly used in schools by students and teachers, this past year has forced all of us in education to begin to embrace our virtual world. What successful practices has your district utilized to adjust to this change.
• Equity- Ensuring educational equity is the role of every board because inequalities exist in every district. From rural/ remote issues, to cultural competency and poverty; we want to hear what you are doing to build inclusive environments and/or address disparities.
• Communications & Engagement- Ask anyone and they will tell you that communication is key, and many feel they are excellent communicators. What is your district doing to promote effective communication and engagement?
• Promising Practices Spotlight- If your district has a program or practice in place that others could do with some effort and not much money, we'd love to hear about it.
If your district has effective efforts with demonstrated positive outcomes underway in one of these areas, we encourage you to apply to present. Because breakout sessions must be of interest to a diverse array of attendees, presenters must be able to clearly and concisely articulate what steps other districts would need to take to replicate the efforts in their districts, including how those programs or initiatives came to be, the board’s role in supporting them, and how they are funded and maintained. Preference will be given to programs that do not require additional grant funding.
The DEADLINE for consideration is Friday, Aug. 31, 2020. ASBA will conduct a first review and notify semi-finalists no later than Sept. 21, 2020. If selected as a semi-finalist, you will be asked to provide additional details on your presentation which will assist ASBA in making final selections.
