Federal law requires that each state's child support guidelines be reviewed every four years to make sure that the guidelines result in appropriate amounts of child support. The Chief Justice of the Alaska Supreme Court appointed a special committee to conduct this review of Alaska's child support guidelines (Civil Rule 90.3).
