Refrigerant Handling Skills Questionnaire

This survey is designed to provide information on the views of the RACHP industry towards refrigerant handling training, qualifications and skills related to the future review of the GB F Gas Regulations. The summary data will be used as part of ACRIB discussions with policy makers on appropriate legislative approaches to future refrigerant handling in order to support a safe, efficient, cost effective industry-led approach.

Question Title

* 1. Which Trade Association/Professional Institute or organisation are you a member of (select all that apply)?

Question Title

* 2. What is your role

Question Title

* 3. Name of company you are completing survey on behalf of

Question Title

* 4. What type of business are you?

Question Title

* 5. How many operatives who handle refrigerants under the F-Gas Regulations (ie hold F-Gas certificates) do you employ directly?

Question Title

* 6. If you employ sub contractors to carry out handling of refrigerant activities as covered by the F-Gas Regulations, how many of these do you employ? (skip this question if you do not use sub contractors)

Question Title

* 7. If you work with non F-Gas refrigerants were you aware that the following certified training is available? (Skip this question if you do not work with these refrigerants)

  Yes No Not sure
All Flammables (eg Logic, BESA, and other private training providers)
Hydrocarbons only (City & Guilds unit)
Carbon Dioxide
Ammonia

Question Title

* 8. How many of the operatives that you employ to handle Flammables / Hydrocarbons / HFOs hold a relevant training certificate? (skip this question if you do not work with these refrigerants)

Question Title

* 9. How many of the operatives that you employ to handle Carbon Dioxide refrigerant hold a relevant training certificate? (skip this question if you do not work with these refrigerants)

Question Title

* 10. How many of the operatives that you employ to handle Ammonia refrigerant hold a relevant training certificate? (skip this question if you do not work with this refrigerant)

Question Title

* 11. What plans do you have in place to carry out further certified training for non F-Gas Refrigerants (Flammables, Carbon Dioxide or Ammonia) in the future?

Question Title

* 12. When do you carry out certified refresher training for operatives who you employ to handle refrigerants?

Question Title

* 13. How often do you think operatives who handle refrigerants should be required to undergo certified refresher training for the refrigerants they use?

Question Title

* 14. Under the revised EU F-Gas Regulation certified training for Flammable refrigerants will be mandatory for all operatives who are within scope of the current F-Gas certification requirements. Do you agree that this approach should be introduced in the GB legislation?

Question Title

* 15. Under the revised EU F-Gas Regulation certified training for the handling of Carbon Dioxide and Ammonia has been included as mandatory only for operatives who handle these types of refrigerant. Do you agree that this approach should be introduced in the GB legislation?

Question Title

* 16. ACRIB provided a training specification which was used to develop current Flammables training by some awarding bodies (see link). This is being updated to align with the revised EU F-Gas Regulation Implementing Regulation on training and certification (see link). Do you recommend this should be adopted into future GB legislation as the baseline for future GB certificated training?

Question Title

* 17. Are you aware of the requirements of the Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations (PE(S)R) when designing and installing RACHP systems? (see information here)

Question Title

* 18. Are you aware of the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 about individual refrigeration systems installed with a combined motor power of ≥25kW? (reference would be HSE L122 ACOP) l122.pdf
