You are being asked to participate in an online (web-based) survey titled “The Association Between Adverse Childhood Experiences and Enlistment Motivation on Veteran Reintegration to Civilian Life” led by Patrick M. Mendez, PhD student, Keiser University.

General Information: There are some things you should know about this study. The purpose of this study is to explore the possible influence on veterans’ reintegration outcomes based on (a) childhood abuse and neglect and (b) veterans’ reasons for joining the military. If you choose to participate you will be asked to answer questions via an online survey. Participation in the study should take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

There are foreseeable risks in participating in this study as answering questions may cause participants to re-experience the trauma. Therefore, below is the contact information for military trauma counselors at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Participants will have the ability to download and print a copy of the consent, so they have it after they begin the survey. This study will have practical beneficial implications, as the results between various measures being studied and reintegration outcomes will provide practitioners and policymakers with a better understanding of developing reintegration policy and programs for veterans who experience Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
