Abilene United Day Camp Information

The Abilene United Fund has been created to allow United Way of Abilene’s Community Partner agencies to more adequately and effectively meet the emerging needs of individuals and families affected by disaster events in our local area. Currently, the fund will address immediate needs related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

One of these emerging needs in the Abilene community is child supervision for essential community employees based on school closures.

Abilene United Day Camps is a collaborative effort between the United Way of Abilene, Abilene Independent School District, Abilene Boys and Girls Clubs, Alliance for Women and Children, Wylie Independent School District, and YMCA Abilene. These day camps are intended for children between the ages of 5 and 12 in the grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. Sites for Abilene United Day Camps are Abilene ISD campuses: Bonham Elementary, Jackson Elementary, and Martinez Elementary. All cleaning and food distribution, play time, and learning opportunities will be done in a manner compliant with the CDC's COVID-19 recommendations.

Abilene United Day Camps will open on Monday, March 30 and remain open until Friday, May 22, 2020 (or until (1) further closures include childcare centers or (2) schools open again). Each day camp site will be open Monday through Friday between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Applying for Abilene United's Day Camps does not automatically admit your child(ren). You are applying for a limited resource that will be provided upon availability and priority for employee functions that play an essential role in our community. Please consider whether you have other options for your child's supervision before applying.

No admission fees are required upon acceptance into the Day Camp program. Acceptance is based on prioritization of need.
