The National Board for the American Association of Women in Community Colleges invites innovative and creative proposals on the theme: Assist, Persist, Resist - Building and Advancing Leaders for the AAWCC National Conference in San Antonio, TX October 28-30, 2019.

When submitting, please see our national platform below as a means to develop a proposal. However, the association will also consider proposals with other content relevant to Assist, Resist or Persist in an effort to build and advance women leaders.

In addition, we are excited to announce that we have added a student track and are accepting proposals from and for community college students too.

National Platform
ASSIST: BUILDING THE PIPELINE.
Building pathways of success for our members is critical. Through thoughtfully designed learning pathways, intentional mentoring, and career pathway exploration, we can fortify the architecture that is already in place.

PERSIST: ADVANCING EQUITABLE PRACTICES.
Keeping momentum going requires consistent attention, and women can benefit from skills sets and guidance in navigating pathways, expanding capacity, designing career ladders, and empowering themselves and each other in contract negotiations.

RESIST: DECONSTRUCTING IMPLICIT BIASES AND INEQUITABLE PRACTICES.
Naming and deconstructing inequitable practices will help nurture an environment of inclusion. In addition to education on Title IX/VAWA (identifying and combating sexism and hostile environments).

The time frame is 75 minutes (60 minutes with time for questions). Proposals will be accepted now through July 12, 2019. Proposers will be notified by July 19, 2019.  However, The deadline for student presenters (only) will extend through September 12, and they will be notified within the following week or sooner.
