The mission of AAHKS is to advance hip and knee patient care through education, advocacy and research. AAHKS has also encouraged humanitarian efforts by designating an annual humanitarian award and encouraging members to participate in medical missions.

* 2. Over 20 “Operation Walk” entities, run by arthroplasty surgeons, conduct self-funded medical missions around the world to provide hip and knee replacements.

An AAHKS-organized foundation could facilitate this humanitarian effort by coordinating the donations of medical devices and arranging for group purchases of supplies and services.
