We had such interest and response from our Feb. 10, 2009 climate teleconference about the Climate Index for Tourism, that we are pursuing the development of a new web-based tool to provide likelihoods of weather conditions for any outdoor activity, not just tourism. This tool will convert historical hourly weather data (temperature, precipitation, present weather, visibility and wind speed) into user-specified summaries of weather probabilities, for example, probabilities of temperature ranges, likelihood of certain types of precipitation, probabilities of exceeding thresholds (e.g., temperature) on particular dates and times of day. The interactive tool will be based on weather station data and is intended to guide the planning of any outdoor activity. We also plan to provide similar information for all of Alaska and offshore locations based on new analysis from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center that will be available next year. In the future, we plan to add projected changes of climate-related weather variables

WE NEED YOUR INPUT. We would like to hear from a wide variety of business, industry, state and federal government, non-profit, and individual stakeholders in Alaska. Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey. While we cannot guarantee to meet all of the requests we receive, we will take your feedback into account as we design this tool.

This is a survey to help ACCAP better understand your needs and interests. ACCAP will use the results of this survey to guide the design of a web-based tool to provide information about the likelihoods of weather conditions for outdoor activity in Alaska.
