Thanks for helping. This very quick survey is designed to help me, a senior at the University of Minnesota, collect a range of different views from people who care about climate change. I'm writing my thesis on the premise that the lack of a "climate movement" has been one of the main reasons why the United States has been reluctant to take action to combat climate change. I specifically want to know your thoughts on building a social movement focused on reducing humanity's impact on the Earth's climate system.

The statements collected from this survey will then be used to create a list that represents a range of different ideas. This is a totally anonymous survey. I will never know who you are, unless you choose to let me know.

1. Please indicate how much you agree or disagree with the following statements:

Strongly Agree Agree Neutral Disagree Strongly Disagree
"I think climate change is a daunting problem that has potential to drastically change life on earth."
"I actively participate in activities that seek to combat climate change."

2. In your opinion, what are two of the most important things to do to build a climate movement in the U.S.?

3. Are there some dead-end streets? What are two strategies that you think organizers should NOT invest time or energy in?

4. What personally makes you feel motivated? If possible, write a sentence or two about a time you chose to get involved with a cause.

5. In what year were you born?

6. What is your profession?
