Thank you for taking part in our survey of Swifts

We are looking for your sightings of Swifts to help us identify and protect their breeding colonies in Dublin city.

As part of the Dublin City Urban Birds Project 2014, a joint project by Dublin City Council Parks Services and BirdWatch Ireland, we are looking to gather sightings of breeding Swifts in Dublin city, with particular emphasis on locating and recording nest sites. Swifts nest in the eaves and gables of buildings. However due to modern building techniques and the loss of old buildings, many of their traditional nest sites have been lost. We would like to establish a city wide inventory of known Swift colonies to help identify these important sites and protect this iconic urban species.

This survey questionnaire aims to capture details of your sightings of Swifts from the present season. However historic records and records of absence of Swifts are also important. Please complete a separate questionnaire per sighting or colony.

Further details about the survey and about Swifts can be found here.

Please proceed to complete the questionnaire. Or Contact Us if you have lots of sightings and would prefer to enter records using an excel spreadsheet.

Thanks for your interest in this survey.
