Payday and Car Title Lending Survey

Over the last several decades, high-cost lending to those in need has increased significantly. More than 20,000 payday and car title loan stores operate nationwide. Many of these lenders now offer loans at 300% APR and higher.

Faith for Just Lending is working to survey 200 congregations, service providers and individuals in order to hear your stories and your perspective on payday and car title lending. We will gather these stories together in a published report that will be shared with the press and policy decision-makers. We recognize that sometimes these stories are difficult to tell. They are also a powerful way to lift up the real impact of predatory lending and to communicate and advocate for our values. So, we thank you in advance for the time and thoughtfulness you bring to this survey.

Because the final report based on this survey will become a public document, please answer the narrative questions only with information that you have permission to share. As you complete the survey, you will have an opportunity to indicate what information is appropriate to disclose publicly.

This survey is designed to be completed by a pastor, deacon, or someone who deals with helping ministries, social services ministry, financial assistance or similar services. If you are an individual who would like to share their personal experience with predatory lending we ask that you refrain from filling out this survey, and instead tell us on our website, because FJL would love to hear from you. Thank you.
