As you may be aware one year ago the Federal Government of Nigeria tasked the Inter-Agency Task Team on Anti-Corruption (IATT) to develop a national strategy to combat corruption.
The IATT, which is composed of representatives of the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Ministry of Finance, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, the Code of Conduct Bureau, the Public Complaints Commission, the Nigerian Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative, the Technical Unit on Governance and Anti-Corruption Reforms, the Nigerian Police Force, the Federal Inland Revenue Service, the Office of the Auditor General, the Corporate Affairs Commission, the Central Bank of Nigeria, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, the Budget Office of the Federation, started its work and has prepared a framework for such a strategy.
The rational for the national strategy to combat corruption is:
1. To improve coordination and synergy among the operationally diverse agencies who have anti-corruption and accountability mandates;
2. To provide entry points and platforms for non-state actors in the fight to combat corruption;
3. To provide a standardised basis for monitoring and evaluation.
At this stage, the IATT, would like to consult YOU as a citizen of Nigeria and key stakeholder in the fight against corruption on your views and recommendations to be reflected in such a strategy. We would be most grateful if you would take the time (approximately 15 minutes) to access the link below and fill out the respective questionnaire.
Your contribution is of essential importance and we hope you will help us to ensure that your views will be reflected as we are finalizing the national strategy to combat corruption.
