You are invited to participate in this survey research regarding biracial/multiracial identity being conducted by Dr. Jennifer Teramoto Pedrotti at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and Dr. Lisa Edwards at Marquette University. We are interested in your experiences as a biracial or multiracial person with regard to the match found between your racial/ethnic self-identification and the way in which others around you identify you racially/ethnically. Because there has been very little research in this area, your participation and input is crucial. Participation will take approximately 15-20 minutes. You must be at least 18 years of age to participate in this survey.
Your responses will be anonymous and there are no known risks for participation in this study. In the unlikely event that psychological distress is experienced in response to this questionnaire, please contact Dr. Pedrotti at email@example.com or Dr. Edwards at firstname.lastname@example.org. On the other hand, participating in this survey may benefit you by providing you the opportunity to examine your understanding of your own racial/ethnic identification and the impact this may have on your experience as a biracial or multiracial individual. In addition, if you are a Cal Poly student taking Intro to Psych, you may be able to receive some credit for class (please see the end of the survey). If you would like to be entered into a drawing to receive one of two $50.00 cash prizes, please provide your name and address at the end of the survey. Your name and address will only be used in the drawing and will not be associated with your responses.
By completing and submitting your responses you are providing your informed consent to participate, and signifying that you are at least 18 years of age. Please be aware that you are not required to participate in this research and may discontinue your participation at any time without penalty. You may also omit any items on the questionnaires you prefer not to answer.
