Big Rock has embarked on an update to the 2003 Comprehensive Land Use Plan and needs the community to be involved. The Planning & Zoning Commission (PZC) is responsible for development of the Plan with adoption by the Village Trustees. The PZC needs you to express your thoughts about Big Rock’s future. You can begin by completing this survey.
The Planning & Zoning Commission will continue to reach out to the residents and property owners in the area to participate in the planning process throughout the next year or so. But you may ask why should you invest your time at a focus group, open house, or completing a survey?
The planning process for the Village develops a vision to provide a blueprint for decision making regarding new development, infrastructure improvements and resource management. Each decision the Village makes contributes to achieving larger goals and objectives that define the vision. Community input in the planning process is invaluable!
After learning about the planning process and issues relevant to the Village, you will be asked to answer questions, discuss your thoughts, provide information, and/or select your preferences between alternative scenarios. Based on community input, the PZC will strive to achieve a balance between future growth and maintaining the Village’s character.
