NICE, in partnership with the Health Protection Agency (HPA), has produced a quality improvement guide on Healthcare Associated Infections for board members working in (or with) hospitals.

The aim is twofold: to reduce the risk of harm from healthcare-associated infections for patients, staff and visitors; and to reduce the costs associated with preventable infection.

The guide consists of 11 quality improvement statements which provide clear markers of excellence in infection prevention and control at a management or organisational level. Each statement is supported by examples of the type of evidence that could be used to prove the organisation has achieved excellence, and examples of what this would mean in practice on a day-to-day basis.

The survey consists of 7 short questions that should take no more than 5 minutes to complete. The purpose of this short survey is to evaluate:
1. the usefulness of the product – Quality Improvement Guide
2. the content of the HCAI Quality improvement Guide i.e. did we do what we set out to do (for further details see scope available at http://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/phg/advicehealthcareassociatedinfections.jsp)

The data from this survey will be used by NICE to evaluate the product and an evaluation report will be produced a year after publication of the Quality Improvement guide (November 2012).

All information submitted in response to this survey will be anonymised and kept confidential and only be used for NICE's evaluation of the Quality Improvement Guide.

NICE is committed to improving the quality of its advice, by listening to the views of experienced, knowledgable practitioners in local areas across England. Thank you for your time.
