Parenting Behavior Importance Questionnaire-Revised (Mowder, 2007)
Adult Attachment Questionnaire (Simpson, Rholes, and Phillips, 1996)
As a doctoral student at Pace University, I am researching the relationship between adult attachment and parenting perceptions and am requesting your help in the participation of this study. You are being asked to respond to the Parenting Behavior Importance Questionnaire-Revised, and the Adult Attachment Questionnaire. Results of this study will help to provide teachers, clinicians, counselors and psychologists with increased knowledge regarding attachment theory and parenting perceptions, furthering their ability to help both parents and students.
You are being asked to complete two questionnaires. The first one to be completed, the AAQ, asks you to reflect on close relationships that you have had; the second to be completed, the PBIQ-R, contains questions regarding the importance of parenting behaviors. Completion time is approximately 10 minutes and there is little risk involved in completing these surveys.
Please be aware that responding to these questionnaires is completely voluntary, and refusal or withdrawal from your participation at any time will not result in any negative ramifications. In addition, there are no right or wrong answers and you do not have to be a parent to respond to the PBIQ-R. No identifying information is being collected and all responses will remain confidential. However, if you choose to do so, your participation will entitle you to a ticket for a raffle with a prize of $200. If you wish to enter the raffle which will be drawn after the data has been collected, please email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org with “raffle” in the subject line. The winner will be notified via email. Survey answers and contact information will be kept separate.
The solicitation of participants for this project has been approved by the Pace University Institutional Review Board. If you have questions regarding your rights as a participant, you may contact the Office of Sponsored Research at Pace University, 212-346-1273.
By completing these questionnaires, you are indicating your informed consent. Please keep a copy of this letter for your records and feel free to consult with others prior to participating in this study.
Thank you for your time and cooperation,
Doctoral candidate, Pace University
