Metro West Housing Solutions, a local non-profit, is revitalizing a 5-acre vacant property just south of Colfax Avenue and Lamar Street and only one block from Lakewood’s Lamar Street light rail station in to open in 2013. The station is less than 15 minutes by light rail to the Federal Center and Auraria campus.
The site, located in the heart of the emerging 40 West Arts District, will be transformed into a mixed-income community with 176 permanently affordable and market rate apartments including one-, two-, and three-bedroom as well as live/work units. The community will include outdoor open and recreation space, many indoor amenities, and on-site services for residents. Sustainability is paramount as Smart Growth principles have been integrated into the design and LEED green building certification will be pursued.
This survey is intended to help guide Metro West in creating a property that meets the needs of its residents. Although the community will serve individuals and families of all incomes and backgrounds, for the purposes of this survey we are also interested in the specific needs of students and artists. Your input is greatly appreciated and will be kept strictly confidential within the project team.
