Robot Acceptance Online Study
Thank you for your interest in my study. You are being invited to take part in a research study investigating the domestic use of robots. This research makes up part of my PhD research.
Who can take part in this study?
Anyone has or has ever owned a robot and used it in his or her own home within the last five years. As the questions are asked in English, knowledge of the English language is requisite. Anyone younger than 18 years old, needs permission from their parents to take part in this study. Anyone younger than 12 years old, is advised to complete the study with an adult as some of the questions might be difficult to interpret.
What happens as part of the study?
This study involves answering questions about one particular robot that you have or have ever owned. The goal is to investigate why people use robots in their own homes.
What information will be collected?
I will collect the answers that you give to each question. I will also ask you for some basic demographic information. This part is optional: you can still take part and choose not to give this information. If you would like to join my mailing list to receive a short report about my findings you can leave your email address at the end of the study.
The research data I collect do not contain any personally sensitive information.
How long will the study take?
The study has been tested and will require around 15 minutes to complete.
Withdrawing from the study
You may decide to stop taking part in the study at any time without explanation. If you decide you no longer want to carry on, just close your web browser. Your responses up to that point will be excluded from the final analysis. If you complete the study and decide at a later date that you would like to withdraw your responses, please contact me within 24 hours after completing the questionnaire and I will ensure they are securely deleted.
There are no known risks for you in taking part in this study.
Cost, reimbursement and compensation
Your participation in this study is voluntary and no reimbursement or compensation is offered for your time. However, you will be contributing to research in a novel area of behavioral sciences, and your participation is greatly appreciated.
Further information about this project
After the questions you will be able to read more about this research and how your participation in this study has contributed to the overall project. There will also be the opportunity to leave your email address, which will not be linked to or stored with the research data collected, but will allow you to receive a short report on the results once the study has been finished.
I (Maartje de Graaf) will be glad to answer your questions about this study at any time. You can contact me by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
