Geyserville Planning Committee - Community Survey

Geyserville Planning Committee.  In 1983, the Geyserville Community and the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors created and sanctioned the Geyserville Planning Committee (GPC) to "act as an advisory body, providing input to County agencies on matters concerning the community...and to secure cooperative action in advancing common civic purposes."  The seven members of the GPC are elected to staggered two year terms in April of each year at the annual Geyserville Town Meeting.

This Survey.  County agencies have approached the GPC for input relative to decadal update of the county's General Plan.  To provide this input, the GPC is circulating this initial survey.  Interested community members should respond to this survey and make sure they have registered their email address on the geyservilleplanningcommitee.com website.  As the input process continues over the next 18 months, the GPC will arrange multiple community meetings and circulate additional surveys.  This survey is supported by a grant from the Geyserville Community Foundation, a volunteer organization whose purpose to it support and promote the history, the creative arts, recreation, and enrichment of the Geyserville community.

Sonoma County General Plan.  Every 10 years in California, each jurisdiction updates its General Plan.  The General Plan provides the guidance and direction for the policies that will control land use, zoning, population density and building and community development.  As an unincorporated area within Sonoma County, the community character of Geyserville is significantly controlled by the county' General Plan.

Geyserville Community Plan. Concurrent with the General Plan there will be the development of a community plan for Geyserville by an independent planning consultant. The development of this plan will include community engagement through meetings and additional surveys. GPC involvement in this process will provide key leadership in soliciting community needs and organizing Town meetings. A final report will support and be included in the General Plan 2040.

PS - Geyserville Fire Meeting, January 20, 11 a.m.  We also want to remind everyone that Geyserville Fire will have a general meeting Saturday, Jan 20 at 11 at the fire station.  The purpose will be to discuss a range of new emergency preparation efforts to protect our community from fires, floods, mudslides, earthquakes and more.
