Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal World Heritage Site Management Plan
of survey complete.
As a World Heritage Site, Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal keeps impressive company with the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China and the Pyramids. Closer to home in the north of England there is Hadrian’s Wall, Saltaire and Durham Cathedral to explore.
Every World Heritage Site must have a management plan which guides its management for a six year period. The plan includes an overall vision for the site, and is then broken down into key themes and a six year action plan. Our current plan expires in 2014 therefore we’ll be writing a new one this year. The draft plan will be written in summer and published in autumn when a formal process of consultation will begin.
Before putting pen to paper and writing the draft plan, the National Trust, English Heritage and its partners are seeking early views from the local community, stakeholders and visitors before the more formal consultation period in autumn 2014. This initial early stage of consultation will close on Sunday 15 June.
This is your chance to feed into the plan at an early stage, helping to shape the priorities and recommendations that will steer the estate until 2021.
