Currently vacant, the lot at 26th and Federal provides a unique opportunity for neighborhood green space for residents and students in the immediate neighborhood. Owned by Commonwealth Edison, the site is in close proximity to Williams Multiplex School, the CHA Dearborn Homes, and the Opera Lofts. It runs along the east side of Metra’s Rock Island line and could provide a valuable green buffer zone for residents and students.
The collaborative effort to develop the site into a public park includes the Metropolitan Planning Council, Openlands, NeighborSpace, and the Midwest Ecological Landscaping Association (MELA).
The final design for the site will be based on comments from residents. Please take a moment to share your ideas for transforming this site into an attractive public space.
