Overview & Workshop Requirements

San Diego Housing Federation's 24th Annual Affordable Housing and Community Development Conference:
"Housing Our Future"

Thursday, October 29
with Pre-Conference Institutes on Wednesday, October 28

New location for both days! Hilton Bayfront San Diego

Each year, the San Diego Housing Federation brings together the region's housing and community development leaders and professionals for the county's only day-long conference dedicated to building and preserving affordable homes and vibrant communities. We invite you to share your expertise with us at the October 29th Conference as a workshop presenter or organizer.

This year, we will focus on the theme of "Housing Our Future" to explore how a safe, decent, affordable home impacts children's health, education & social development. When possible, workshops should focus on these connections between successful affordable housing and the success of our youth in the future. The six tracks at this Conference will each be comprised of 3 workshops. The six tracks are:

·         Design & Development
·         Housing Finance
·         Supportive Housing
·         Outreach & Influence
·         Policy & Advocacy
·         Emerging Trends

Specific Requirements:

- Workshops should be designed for 1 hour and 15 minutes duration. You must designate the last 15 minutes of your session for Q and A.
- No more than four total panelists: 3 speakers and one moderator.
- Sessions need to be well rounded and present multiple perspectives when possible. Sessions designed to sell or promote one company’s product will not be accepted.
- Panels should include representatives with diverse backgrounds, expertise and (when appropriate) perspectives who can educate and engage attendees in a dialogue around affordable housing and community development.

*Speakers or panelists must register at a reduced speaker rate if they are attending any part of the conference in addition to their workshop. Travel expenses will not be reimbursed.

*Presentations and handouts must be sent to San Diego Housing Federation in advance and will be shared online after the Conference.

Workshop submissions are DUE BY FRIDAY, JULY 17th.
