INTRODUCTION

We are creating a parish plan for St. Francis Xavier (College) Church.

We need your ideas and input. Please read over this material and complete these survey questions NO LATER THAN SUNDAY JULY 20, 2014.

This 1st Public Draft short form plan (Mission, Values and Goals) for St. Francis Xavier (College) Church is the result of work from many sources. These include:
• Input from a pre-Retreat survey completed by Futuring Team members
• Feedback from Retreat I sessions with more than 80 participants, including all Wisdom Wall and other input
• Feedback from the Circle Masses June 7-8, 2014
• Input from the Futuring Team in late June 2014

Two additional Retreats open to all parishioners will be held July 25-26, 2014 and September 5-6, 2014. In addition, Futuring Team members will be participating in a few work groups, hosting some focus group sessions and also conducting some best practice research. A final recommended plan will be presented by the Futuring Team to the Pastoral Council for review, amendment and approval in Fall 2014.

An action plan (Goals, Objectives, Action Steps, Measures, Budget Implications and Responsibilities) is also being developed to assist with ongoing implementation and evaluation. Implementation will be for the five-year period beginning January 2015 and extending through December 2019.

VALUE STATEMENTS

These statements reflect the core values or key beliefs of St. Francis Xavier (College) Church. Values are important for a planning process because they are guiding principles of conduct. They are often implicit within organizations, but are most helpful when made explicit. Will living out these values help the parish faith community live out its mission and live into its vision?

Several lists of values were created by Retreat participants in June. The Futuring Team has further refined these statements.

Please review the list below and check the box that reflects your opinion on these value statements.

• Living God’s message of love, compassion and mercy by serving the needs of the poor, through social justice and service programs.
• Fostering and promoting lifelong faith formation for all people, young and old.
• Having a beautiful, well-maintained space in which to worship and committed staff members to effectively run our day-to-day activities.
• Being a parish that welcomes people from all walks of life and celebrates the diversity of our members.

After reviewing and rating the Value Statements, are there any additions or changes you feel would be important?
