So who are you going to vote for? We gave both Dewar’s and Wool Growers a chance to make their case for why they are The Greatest Thing About Bakersfield.

Heather Dewar, fourth generation owner of Dewar’s
“Our product is different. It’s special, unique. We’ve been making our products for 100 years and we’re still using the same recipes that my great-grandfather used when he opened the business. Customers still like what we have to offer them and that shows that we’re doing something right. Being named The Greatest Thing About Bakersfield, I can’t think of anything better.”

Jenny Poncetta, second generation owner of Wool Growers
“A lot of customers call this a social gathering place. Because of that, it’s comfortable here. People come here and they feel like it’s their second home. We’re also consistent. The menu is basically the same as it was 50 years ago and we have low turnover with our employees. And this is where our roots are – we went away for college but came back. If we were named The Greatest Thing About Bakersfield, it would be just fabulous.”
