Reduce barriers to treatment and timely access to care through reform of utilization management tools that interfere with physician medical decision making, such as step-therapy, non-medical switching/preferred formularies and prior authorization, including prior authorization with inability for peer-reviewed appeals.
Patient access to affordable health care coverage, including CHIP and Medicaid.
Expansion of benefits and policies that are critical to optimizing patient quality of care, improving health outcomes and reducing racial and geographic health disparities.
NUTRITION AND PREVENTION
Improve child nutrition and health through access to and coverage of nutritional services and products for the treatment and management of pediatric digestive disease. Promote the use of credible, scientific evidence to guide policy decisions related to patient health, well-being and equity.
RESEARCH AND INNOVATION
Support federal funding for the advancement and dissemination of medical research and innovation, and at acceptable levels to secure a pipeline of medical researchers to advance future discoveries.
Engage with federal regulatory agencies to improve time from study to approval of medications for use in pediatric populations and access to innovative technologies.
HEALTH CARE PROVIDER WORKFORCE AND RESILIENCY
Support policies to support and strengthen the pediatric GI workforce, including reduction of administrative burden that contributes to physician burnout, student loan repayment, funding for medical education training, and support for international pediatric GI trainees and physicians.
