As you will be aware the trustees took the prudent step of closing the Acorn in August so it can develop a new business plan that will enable it to continue to present a programme of arts activities including regular performances . As part of this process we want to hear from our audience about what they would like from the Acorn.
The way the arts are funded is under radical review but despite the cuts there could be an opportunity for artists, venues, arts development agencies and audiences to work together in a different way.
One proposal that is being looked into is for the Acorn to become a Creative Production Centre with artists hiring the theatre for not just rehearsals, but to present new ideas and take risks.
Please spend 10 minutes completing this questionnaire. You will notice that the final section includes opportunities to volunteer as we realise that for the arts to survive it will need increase its use of volunteers and community support. Note this is about testing what potential there is for support from volunteers in a new model and it maybe sometime before the theatre is in a position to take up any offers of help.
Please respond by Tuesday 21st December.
Thank you for your time. Paula Hammond – Project Consultant
