This study examines attitudes toward the roles of men and women in romantic relationships. It has been approved by the Brunel University Psychology Research Ethics Committee. It should take about 15 minutes to complete. All responses are completely anonymous and confidential. You must meet the following criteria to be included in this study:
1. You must be at least 18 years old.
2. You must have experienced at least one romantic relationship in your life. This should be a relationship in which you were emotionally involved. You do not need to be currently involved in a romantic relationship to participate.
3. You must complete this study alone, and in a quiet place without distractions.
There are no potential risks to participating in this study; in fact, you may actually gain some insight into your own attitudes and behaviors within dating relationships. If you have any questions about this study, feel free to contact the principal investigator, Dr Tara Marshall (firstname.lastname@example.org). If you have any concerns about the way this research has been conducted, you may contact Professor Taeko Wydell, co-chair of the Brunel Psychology Research Ethics Committee (email@example.com).
It would be greatly appreciated if you could please complete the entire survey. We cannot use your data if your survey is largely incomplete.
Please note: although this study is not limited to people involved in heterosexual relationships, some of the questions pertain to attitudes toward heterosexual role behavior in relationships.
This is not an informed consent sheet; we are simply checking, first and foremost, that you fulfill the criteria for this study. If you indicate "Yes" to the following question, the informed consent sheet will appear on the next page.
