Description of procedure: You will be asked to read three brief scenarios, each detailing a crime, and then asked to choose a statement which you feel best describes the scenario you have just read. You will then be asked to answer three short questions regarding your opinion on each scenario. This whole process should take no longer than five minutes.

* This research is carried out in accordance with the ethical guidelines of the British Psychological Society and the University of Portsmouth. This entails that:
1. Your participation is entirely voluntary. You may withdraw it without any negative consequences, at any time during the study, by simply choosing not to continue with the questionnaire. You may also withdraw your data within a period of one week, should you regret your participation.
2. Your data will be held confidentially and may be stored for a period of five years after the appearance of any associated scientific publications, or destroyed one year after graduation. This informed consent form will be kept separately from your study data to preserve your anonymity.
3. You will be able to obtain feedback about the results of this research (although it is not the departmental policy to give individual feedback) by contacting the researcher on the details above.
