Title: Student-Teacher Boundary Issues Part 2 Principal Investigator: Patricia Owen, PhD & Jennifer Zwahr-Castro, PhD
I am being asked to participate in the above-mentioned project. My participation in this study is entirely voluntary and I may refuse to participate, or may decide to cease participation once begun. Should I withdraw from the study or refuse to participate in the study, my decision will involve no penalty or loss of benefits to which I am otherwise entitled. I am being asked to read the consent form carefully and will be able to print a copy of it to keep, if I decide to participate.
I have been told that the purpose of this study is to evaluate the appropriateness of several situations involving college professors and undergraduate student interaction. I have been informed that I will be answering a series of questions that will describe each situation that I am to evaluate. I have been advised that the completion of this material will take approximately 30 minutes.
I have been advised that there are no physical or psychological risks associated with participation in this research and that this research will help the investigator explore faculty perceptions on the appropriateness of situations between students and professors.
Every effort will be made to maintain confidentiality of my responses. I have been advised that the data collected from this study will be used for educational and publication purposes; however, I will not be identified as a participant.
I have been told that the investigator has the right to withdraw me from the study at any time. I am aware that if I have any questions, I may contact the principal investigator, Dr. Patricia Owen, at 210-431-2018.
By accepting, I acknowledge my voluntary participation in this research project. My participation does not release the investigator or institution from their ethical responsibility to me.
ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING YOUR RIGHTS AS A RESEARCH PARTICIPANT MAY BE ADDRESSED TO THE ST. MARY'S UNIVERSITY INSTITUTIONAL REVIEW BOARD-HUMAN SUBJECTS (210-436-3315).
