The Center for European Studies at Rutgers University and the European-American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey invite you to the second in a series of forums on building closer ties between businesses in Europe and New Jersey. The Business Forums are funded by a grant from the Delegation of the European Union to the United States, the second one received by the Center for European Studies in partnership with the European-American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey.
The event will take place at the New Jersey Institute of Technology's Campus Center Atrium, 154 Summit Street, Newark, New Jersey. The Forum will feature a panel of industry authorities from the technological sector who will share their expertise. A prominent authority in the field will serve as keynote speaker, and there will be ample time for networking. Breakfast, refreshments and lunch will be provided, and the event is free of charge. The theme of the May 15 GTKE Forum is "Technology and Innovation" and its importance for transatlantic business profitability and success, particularly as supported by burgeoning exchanges of intellectual property and R&D. Latest available statistics show that in 2010 U.S. affiliates invested nearly $ 24.4 billion in R&D in Europe or about 62 percent of the nation's total global expenditures Conversely, in the U.S. R&D spending by European affiliates rose over $ 1 billion year-over-year to $ 31.3 billion and accounted for 75 % of total such expenditures from all majority owned foreign affiliates in America. Our keynote speaker will be Stephen Ezell of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, and there will be ample time for networking.
