Congratulations for considering working on the Silver Award!

This Girl Scouts Nation's Capital online approval tool is designed to be used by a Girl Scout Cadette and her leader, project adviser, and/or parent. We will ask you a few questions to help you get on the right course for your project. These questions are directly based on Girl Scouts of the USA's national guidelines and requirements for the Silver Award. For more information about those guidelines, please consult your Cadette Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting, the Girl Scouts of the USA website (http://www.girlscouts.org/program/highest_awards/silver_award.asp), or the Girl Scouts Nation's Capital website (http://www.gscnc.org/en/about-girl-scouts/our-program/highest-awards/silver-award.html).

As of March 17, 2015, Girl Scouts Nation's Capital will require that girls submit a copy of their online approval certificate with their Silver Award Final Report. When completing the survey, be sure that your computer is connected to a printer so that you can print the required approval page.

Suggestions about how to use this online approval tool:

1) Familiarize yourself with the Girl Scouts of the USA guidelines.
2) Read the approval questions ahead of time, http://www.gscnc.org/content/dam/girlscouts-gscnc/documents/Our-Council/Silver_Award_Online_Approval_Tool_FY15.pdf and think about your answers.
3) Complete the Silver Award online approval tool. Be sure to print the approval certificate as it will be required for purchase of a Silver Award pin as of March 17, 2015. You may want to hole-punch it and insert it in your Girls Guide to Girl Scouting in the Silver Award section.
4) Complete your approved Silver Award Take Action Project by September 30 of the year you complete 8th grade and enter 9th grade.
