PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
You are invited to take part in this study of Learning Outcomes for undergraduate Linguistics programs. I plan to use the results of this study to develop a validated Concept Inventory for assessing the learning of undergraduate Linguistics students.
PROCEDURES INVOLVED IN THE RESEARCH
You will receive a link to an on-line survey. The survey asks you to rate the importance of several possible learning outcomes, and asks you to suggest additional outcomes. The survey also asks for some information about the kind of program you teach in.
POTENTIAL HARMS, RISKS AND DISCOMFORTS
It is not likely that any harm or discomfort will arise from taking part in this study. You may skip any questions that you do not want to answer, and you can withdraw from the study at any time. I describe below the steps I am taking to protect your privacy.
This research may not benefit you directly. I plan to use the results of this study to develop a validated Concept Inventory for assessing the learning of undergraduate Linguistics students. I will make this Concept Inventory available for all Linguistics instructors to use to assess their students’ learning.
You are participating in this research anonymously. No one will know that you have participated, including me. The data you provide will be stored on password-protected computers that only I have access to. The anonymous data will be stored indefinitely.
PARTICIPATION AND WITHDRAWAL
Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. You may skip any question that you do not want to answer. If you decide to begin the survey, you may stop at any time (even after giving consent) by simply closing the survey window in your browser. If you decide to withdraw, there will be no consequences to you. Any data you have provided up to the point of withdrawal will be retained.
