1. Introduction

This consultation concentrates on what any patient with lymphoedema, or at risk of lymphoedema could expect from any qualified health care professional in terms of their knowledge and understanding of lymphoedema, their clinical skills and professional attitudes. Once there is international agreement on the benchmark statements for this level of lymphoedema education there will be a two-pronged approach. First we will promote inclusion of the relevant aspects into undergraduate /preregistration education. Secondly we will promote their inclusion in Post Graduate Continuing Professional Development courses as it will be some time before any benefit is seen from the undergraduate teaching.

This level of education is the foundation for further specialised lymphoedema training. This consultation requires your opinion on the benchmark statements that could be included in this level of education.
