Dear Student:

On behalf of Nuestras Raíces Centro Comunitario we want to encourage you to apply for the 2025-26 LUNAA Scholarship, coming from our Nuestras Raíces Foundation. The Nuestras Raíces Foundation Scholarships (earlier known as the HBPA Foundation Scholarships) are awarded annually and we encourage you to reapply in subsequent years.

Upon receipt of all application materials, the Scholarship Review Committee will determine recipients and distribution amounts of each scholarship granted up to $4,000 per academic year. Feel free to use the name you are most comfortable with. To ensure your success with this application process, please adhere to the following timelines and guidelines when completing your application:

Eligibility:
1. The scholarship applicant must be a resident of Washington State and must be graduating from a high school located in Spokane County, WA or currently an undergraduate attending a college/university in Spokane County, WA or a current trade school student in Spokane County WA. (Exception: a student graduating from a community college in Spokane County, WA who is planning to attend a 4-year college/university located outside of Spokane County).
2. Applicants must enroll as a full-time student at a college, university, or trade school in the fall of 2025.
3. Only students without full-funding for tuition are eligible.
3. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 by the end of the most recent semester/quarter.
4. All scholarship applicants are eligible regardless of their ethnicity and citizenship status.
5. Preference will be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need.

Application: Applicant must complete and submit the following:
1. LUNAA Scholarship Application
2. One copy of (official/unofficial) high school or college transcript
3. Two-page Personal Statement (Spanish or English is acceptable)
4. Two letters of recommendation (academic or from a community member)
5. Application will not be complete or reviewed until all materials are received
Essay, transcripts, and recommendation letters must be emailed to li.v@hbpaofspokane.org. Subject line must be: LUNAA Scholarship Material: Last name, First name.

Application Due: April 18th at 11:59pm. If selected, you will be expected to attend the 30th Annual Hispanic/Latine Graduation Ceremony, held on May 8th, 2025 to receive the certificate.


Personal Statement requirements: Students reflect on their academic growth from specific projects or assignments, or about the impact of a specific event in your life. We want to learn about you, your character, your strengths, weaknesses, and what motivates you, etc. (Use first person 'I').
