Thank you for your interest in becoming a Role Model for Invest in Girls!

We are currently recruiting women actively working in the financial services industry to mentor, motivate and inspire a current program participant (girls in grades 10-12) or an Invest in Girls alumna currently in college. All potential mentees have indicated an interest in pursuing a career in financial services.  As a role model / mentor, you will communicate with your mentee on the following topics:

- Share how you became interested in financial services
- Your course of study in college/graduate school
- Your early career experiences
- Advice on building a network
- Advice on applying for internships and jobs
- Professional etiquette in the field
- Opportunities available in the field

Role Models are asked to commit to the following:

- Communicate with your mentee at least twice/month skype, phone, email, or in person. At least one of the meetings needs to be via skype, phone, or in person.
- Have a 45 minute In- Person meeting with your mentee at least three times throughout the term. (i.e breakfast, lunch, or other)
- Host a "Mentee for the Day" at your place of employment.
- Provide a Letter of Recommendation at the end of the term.
- Assign your mentee a monthly project to work on in her spare time and provide a timeline for completion. Sample projects will be provided for you or you are free to devise your own. Examples include:

a.) Have your mentee conduct research on a topic and provide you with an Executive Summary.
b.) Have your mentee create a presentation on a topic / problem relevant to your work.
c.) Have your mentee conduct an analysis of a particular sector within the market and brief you on her findings.
d.) Have the mentee create her own resume' and cover letter and provide feedback.

The purpose of the projects is to provide the girls with the opportunity to work with a professional on a task and begin to understand the importance of diligence, attention to detail, and learning to accept praise and constructive feedback.

We ask role models to commit to their mentee through June 2020. Relationships may be renewed the following school year if desired.

You will be asked to complete a background check electronically. The link will be emailed to you upon completion of your application. The background check will take 5-10 minutes to complete.

The Role Model Exchange Mentor will be selected according to responses to the questionnaire and credentials. There is no guarantee that all who apply will be chosen as a Mentor.
