Eye to Eye Counselling Service - help us shape our community trauma and bereavement support project

Eye to Eye Counselling Service has been providing our community trauma response project for two years, supporting families, friends, schools and emergency service staff after the traumatic death of a child or young person. We also support children involved where an adult has died in traumatic circumstances. We are applying to extend this project and meet a new need we have identified while delivering it. Our staff have found that there is no adequate support for primary school aged children (4-10) who have lost a parent, sibling or trusted carer. We also regularly receive calls from parents and others asking for help to support a child through this difficult time.

In July this year we sent a survey to all primary schools in RCT that was answered by 30 schools, who reported that 64 children in those schools had lost a parent or sibling in the last 12 months alone.

We are now repeating this survey with wider community groups who work with children and young people who may have been affected in this way. We very much hope you can contribute.

When surveys have been completed we will be able to talk more to you about this project if it's something you think is needed or want to know more about. In the meantime please contact us on 01443 202940 if you have any questions.

Thanks so much for your time, it's really appreciated.
