Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 2019 Carlington Community Garden build! We are a volunteer-run community garden located in the central west end of the city that serves an area of Ottawa that has a large demand for garden plots and a need for increased food security.

We are expanding our garden this year to give more of our neighbours the opportunity to garden. Our next build days will take place on the weekend of September 21/22 and October 5/6 at our garden which is located at the corner of Woodward Avenue and McBride street (closest address is 1548 Woodward Ave). The garden is available by public transportation (along bus routes 14 and 81), and we also have plenty of parking available for those driving.

There will be a wide variety of tasks available for people of all ages, mobilities, and abilities! Lunch, snack, water, and drinks will be provided for all volunteers.

By helping us with our garden build, you can:
  • Learn how to construct raised bed gardens;
  • Learn how to plan and carry out your own garden expansion;
  • Help contribute to food security and improve community health in our city!
