DesignPrep 101 is a new series of free afterschool workshops that bring Cooper Hewitt’s design programming into middle schools and afterschool sites throughout Manhattan. These workshops, based on the Common Core Learning Standards, will provide intensive, hands-on learning experiences in different design disciplines and fields. Cooper Hewitt educators and professional designers will work together to teach middle school students how to think and work like designers, enhancing skills in speaking and listening, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.

DesignPrep 101 is a series of 2 workshops given over multiple sessions. Afterschool program administrators will book Cooper Hewitt educators to come to their sites, and the educators will deliver a series of workshops based on a chosen topic.
