Doggone It! Cast your vote to choose the new North Shore Gas safe digging ambassadog

We asked North Shore Gas customers for photos of their dogs doing what they do best — digging! We narrowed the competition down to five finalists, but choosing one winner is a "ruff" task. So, we’d like your help!

Please vote below for the dog you think should star in our new safe digging campaign. You can vote through July 30. We’ll announce the winner — our new safe digging “ambassadog” — on Aug. 11.

Take a look at the photos below and — further down on the page — a bit of information about each dog. Then select the photo of your favorite finalist. After that, there is one question about digging safety to answer. Then select “Send” at the very bottom to send us your vote!

ELWOOD
Elwood is a 4-year-old golden labradoodle. He’s a rescue dog from Tennessee and is named after one of the Blues Brothers. Elwood vacations in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, where he practices his hole-digging. He also works as a Comfort K9 for the Libertyville Police Department, helping officers relax after stressful days, and visiting schools and nursing homes. When he’s not working or digging, Elwood loves to chase squirrels.

KLYDE
Klyde is an 8-year-old shepherd mix. He is a rescue pup and a loyal companion with lots of spunk. Klyde has dug a large hole in his back yard, and he continually makes it larger. In addition to that ongoing project, he loves car rides, looking out the front window and nose-work classes that train him to find hidden scents. Klyde's biggest goal is to get back rubs. You’ll know he’s ready for one when he brushes against you like a cat.

LUKE
Luke is a 5-year-old rescue dog who is a mix of Australian shepherd, golden retriever and chow chow (the chow part explains his blue tongue). He loves to dig and swim, and his favorite game is hide and seek. He plays it with people and even by himself, digging a spot to hide a tennis ball and unearthing the ball like buried treasure. Luke is smart, loyal and adventurous — and loves every kind of snack.

PEPPER
Pepper is a 6-year-old Bernese mountain dog whose primary hobbies include jumping waves at the dog beach, making mud pies in the backyard and protecting the North Shore from evil chipmunks. Her family fosters Bernese mountain dogs looking for their forever homes, and Pepper shows the pups the ropes of living in a home and just being a dog. She’s also the ultimate couch potato and lapdog.

TANK
Tank is a shih tzu who is 1 year old and the boss of everything. When not fiercely digging, he loves sitting in his kiddie pool. He also likes walking around the neighborhood to say hi to everyone, chasing birds and squirrels, and resting on his mom’s lap. Tank is super nosy. He inspects everything and everyone he encounters. He’s also funny and sweet.
