Chalk the Block 2026 Volunteer Interest Form

About Chalk the Block
Chalk the Block (CTB) was founded in 2008 as a one-day sidewalk chalk art competition with twelve participating artists that took place at Arts Festival Plaza. Since that time, the event has grown to be the largest public arts festival in the region! With overwhelming support from private and public partners, local and touring artists, and audiences from both sides of the border, the event has expanded into a weekend-long celebration of art, color, and community.

Over 45,000 people visit the event each year which is located in the heart of the El Paso Downtown Arts District. Over 100 local and touring artists from all disciplines participate at CTB creating a fun, immersive, and diverse environment for people of all ages to enjoy.

The event features; temporary interactive art installations, live dance and theatrical performances, a sidewalk chalk art competition, live bands, art and food vendors, and access to hands-on activities and exhibits from our sister institutions the El Paso Museum of Art, El Paso Museum of Archaeology, El Paso Museum of History, and El Paso Mexican American Cultural Center.

Chalk the Block 2026 is sponsored by Raiz Federal Credit Union. The festival takes place October 3 and 4, 2026 in the El Paso Downtown Arts District.
Volunteers help make Chalk the Block a success by participating across the festival footprint. CTB is a great opportunity to get involved in the community and earn community service hours in the process. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. All volunteers for City of El Paso events MUST fill out the appropriate forms.

Volunteers must attend a mandatory virtual orientation held on Thursday, September 24 at 5:00pm. The deadline to submit volunteer interest is 11:59pm on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

10.Volunteer schedules will be assigned by the Chalk the Block team and are subject to change. Available activities will be discussed at volunteer orientation.
