Willard Upcoming Park Levy |
Willard Park Levy 2020 Survey
First, we would like to thank you for your on-going support of your park system. Did you know that your park system has over 90 acres of land that we use money from the existing levy to help maintain? This includes the main park on Laurel Street, neighborhood parks at Keefer Street and Woodbine, the soccer complex, six ballfields, skatepark, Nature Farm, walking trails, basketball courts, pickleball courts, disc golf course, Depot Building, picnic shelters, Downtown Doster Plaza, various playground equipment, swimming pool, and many other amenities maintained for your enjoyment. Funds from the current levy also help keep rental fees, admission costs, and youth registration affordable by offsetting some of the expenses involved in maintaining a swimming pool, operating a sports league, and maintaining rental facilities. We also provide free entertainment for our community in the form of concerts, movies, and other activities with the help of the levy.
In looking forward, some of our buildings and equipment are in dire need of repair and updating. For example, our swimming pool filter needs to be replaced, the shower rooms could use improvements and the siding on the pool building also needs to be replaced. There are also plenty of opportunities to provide a better experience with our park system. This coming November, the existing park levy is up for renewal. This levy provides us with approximately $43,000 to help pay for the amenities and activities previously mentioned. We are hoping that you can provide us with some ideas and we would also love to know what you think of our park system. For a small city of just over 6,000, we are very proud of the amenities we provide. We also know that there is always room for improvement and we look forward to your feedback.
