Regional Development Programme Survey

First Music Contact (FMC) is the leading national music organisation for resourcing musicians and the independent music sector in Ireland. We deliver projects at key stages of an artist’s development, helping them develop real careers.

Over the coming weeks we will be working in collaboration with
Arts Offices in Longford County Council, Laois County Council, Offaly County Council and Westmeath County Council, to deliver a programme to support career development and opportunities for musicians in these localities. This new programme is our Regional Development Programme.

As a national resource organisation we treat our all-of-Ireland remit seriously. This new project aims to better develop a way of offering equal access to professional development services to musicians all around Ireland.

The aim is to better understand where musicians like you are, in your current careers and what your current aspirations and needs are. We will then use this information to inform our own work and to advocate for the things you need to progress your career.

We will be hosting a series of online workshops and sessions that will provide practical advice and music industry panels on many of the issues raised by this questionnaire. You will have an opportunity to attend these free workshops and have an input into the process.

This is a musician-first programme and we want to find out:

(1) what you need to get your music career off the ground or to take the next step

(2) the practical things you need

(3) the supports and advice that will help inform you as a professional

This is your opportunity to have a say and a hand in shaping what happens next.
