New School on Ryan Ave. Attendance Area Options Survey

Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members:

The student population in the Mayfair, Holmesburg, and Academy Gardens areas of the city has seen significant growth, which has resulted in increasing student enrollment and overcrowding in many schools. As a result, our schools are currently functioning at or above capacity. In order to provide appropriate learning environments for all students and to relieve overcrowding, the School District will build a new school located on the Lincoln-Meehan campus.

As a part of the process of opening a new school a new attendance area must be drawn which will also affect the surrounding attendance areas. For the purpose of this process 5 elementary school attendance areas are being studied:
- J.H. Brown
- Forrest
- Holme
- Pollock
- Mayfair

A set of guiding principles that inform the process of evaluating potential attendance area options were used.  Three sets of options were developed in collaboration with a community committee and were based upon the guiding principles set forth.

Feedback throughout this process is crucial and we need your help! As part of the District’s effort to gather input, we ask that you take a brief survey to share your opinions by telling us which options are most effective to you in satisfying the guiding principles, and if there is anything else you would like us to consider.
